Students can understand some new words, such as monkey, elephant, panda and so on.
Students will be familiar with the topic of animal.
Students can improve their reading skills,such as scanning and scanning.
Students will be able to talk about their favorite animals.
Students will increase their interest of learning English.
Teaching key points and difficult points:
Students can get main idea through fast reading, catch specific information through detailed reading.
Students can express their favorite animals.
Students will be able to talk about their favorite animals in their daily life.
Step 1 Lead-in (3 mins)
Greet students and ask students to sing a song“Old Macdonald Had a Farm”. After that, ask students “what animals can you hear in the song”, they may say “ chick, duck, pig and so on”. Then I will continue to ask them “ Do you know any other animals?Today Susan , Tom and Lucy will go to the zoo to find more animals.” In this way, I can lead in today’s topic.
(Justification: the song is closely related to the topic , so I can move to the next step naturally, and students’ interest will be easily attracted.)
Step 2 Pre-reading (5 mins)
Draw some simple pictures about animals “ monkey, elephant, panda” , and teach them how to read it, ask them to read after me for several times, after that I will show a picture about Susan, Tom and Lucy are going to the zoo, and ask students “ can you guess what animals they will find in the zoo?” ask them to read the passage to find the answer.
(Justification: simple pictures can attract students attention and help them understand the meaning of these new words.)
Step 3 While-reading (15 mins)
1. Global reading (5 mins)
Read this passage in 3 minutes and answer the following questions:
(1) Who are supposed to going to zoo?
(2) What is the general idea of this passage?
(Justification: improve students reading skills, especially scanning and skimming.)
